Synopsis

The modern world makes an unwelcome intrusion into the tundra country of northern Sweden as young herdsman Nejla (Robin Lundberg) kills a federally protected wolf that’s been preying on his family’s livestock. When the local authorities start asking questions about the killing, Nejla’s uncle Klemens (Peter Stormare, Fargo, Minority Report) decides to take the blame, entangling himself in a legal battle that goes right to the core of one of Sweden’s oldest social and ethnic conflicts between Sami reindeer herders and local farmers.. Characterized by breathtaking, snowy landscapes, muscular performances and a stellar screenplay by acclaimed Swedish novelist Kerstin Ekman, director Daniel Alfredson’s return to the screen claimed two awards at the 2008 Montreal Film Festival.
