Synopsis

Aïcha, a high-school student, is a passionate kung fu fighter in Copenhagen. Her Turkish parents expect her to get good grades so she can get into medical school, like her brother Ali. But school doesn't inspire her. Defying her family, headstrong Aïcha starts secretly training at a professional, co-ed kung fu club. A boy, Emil, helps Aïcha train for the club championship and they fall in love. But the rules of life are not as simple as the rules of kung fu, and Aïcha is forced to decide who she is and what she wants.  (Martial arts sequences coached by Xiangao (Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon).

"Another tale of cultural and generational clashes.  This topic won’t be going away any time soon.  Aicha has been studying kung fu for 3 years and it’s the most important thing in her life right now. More important than school, that’s for sure. When her teacher suggests she leave her all-girl class for a professional club where male and females work out together, there’s a big problem. Her parents are Turkish Muslims and her strict father won’t allow her to attend a mixed class.  She goes anyway. She learns a lot but her disobedience causes many problems.  Must run to the fest now, so can’t say more except that this was the film I liked best on Saturday and I saw 6 of them!
